Stash reduction 2018 - the bits and bobs blanket

Almost exactly five years after starting the bits and bobs blanket, I have finally finished it! The mitred squares were added by picking up the stitches from the edged of previous squares, so there was virtually no sewing involved. I added two crocheted rows as edging. It measures 1x1.4m and fits our sofa almost perfectly.

Using up stash

Christmas is a good time to try to use up some of the yarn stash - especially those little bits of left-over yarn, which is never enough for anything much ...

I love knitting Elizabeth Zimmerman's surprise jacket and with its stripey pattern it is a great jacket for using up the odd bits of yarn!


With the first jacket I really did use up my bits of yarn as they appeared - although I tried to keep the stripes relatively even.















My second jacket is going to be a little bit more formal. I used beige as a background with even stripes, mostly in blues and greens.




Plenty more stash to use up ... but at least I have made a start!
